All six members of this band have played a bit so this is an experienced outfit. The main thrust of their style is Chicago blues and this 10-track CD has covers of the classics from the likes of Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, and Little Walter. That said, the first track is attributed too BB King!

Shake It Up And Go has a sprightly rhythm and features both guitar and harp! Wells' Messin' With The Kid has a nice guitar break and there is a fairly standard run through of My Babe. Route 66 has an off beat intro and a different arrangement, good harp too. Walking features some interesting harp sounds/amplification. Cross Eyed Cat is a lesser know Muddy Song, good vocals here. Built For Comfort gets a jaunty outing and Billy Branch's Son Of Juke allows Bill Jones to showcase his harp chops with excellent backing. The closing slow blues I Can't Quit You Baby has vocals, harp and guitar all right on the style. Alec Adams' vocals are good, lighter than most of the growlers around but still come across powerfully. The rhythm section are solid and both guitar and harp fill in well.

Overall this is a good band performance which is as it should be if classic 50s/60s Chicago blues is your main influence. Liked the sleeve too which seems to be in a retro early 60s style, nice touch! Well worth investigating and a band who deserve to get gigs further afield.

Rating: 8 Blues In Britain Magazine

A local band from the Swindon area who play out and about round Bristol, Bath, Oxford and so on and sound like they're going to get even further afield on this listen. The band are not abash to tell us that they are an amateur group playing Rhythm and Blues regularly as a hobby but always looking to raise their profile...so that fits them in with most other acts around.

This band certainly have a good solid sound, they're playing mostly covers throughout but damn good quality ones.

Flicky Harrison of the Swindon Evening Advertiser says: "If you listen to these Bluesmen - their set is full of high octane energy and fun all the way". I can only add to what she says and say that these guys deserve to get out to more distant gigs, I reckon any crowd would love their style and their feel and treatment of songs including: Shake It Up And Go, Route 66, Cross-Eyed Cat, Blow Wind Blow and of course Built For Comfort.

If you see them advertised do get out to see them and let us know what you thought.
